Firm Partner to Speak on Negotiation Psychology and Examinations Under Oath in Insurance
Monday, March 9, 2015Firm partner Melanie Wolk will be a featured panelist and speaker on "The Psychology of Negotiations & The Examination Under Oath Revisited" at the Wilcox Museum/Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site in Buffalo on November 19, 2014.
Ms. Wolk will be joined by five other preeminent members of the insurance defense and litigation bar in a soup to nuts seminar on the whys and wherefores of the examination under oath to be immediately followed by a panel discussion on the psychology of negotiations. An examination under oath is a formal proceeding during which an insured, while under oath, and typically in the presence of a court reporter, is questioned by a representative of the insurer regarding the presented claim. It is similar to, but not the same as a deposition in litigation discovery because the right of the insurer to conduct the examination arises from an insurance policy.
Hosted by the Upstate Chapter of the Claims and Litigation Management (CLM) Alliance, CLM is the only national organization created to meet the needs of professionals in the claims and litigation management industries. Founded in 2007, the CLM has more than 25,000 members and fellows.
